Photos on your phone could be analyzed by Meta AI on Facebook without your knowledge and despite people opting out, the scanning could be toggled on.
Back in June, Meta announced a new feature (via TechCrunch) meant to automatically suggest AI-edited photos such as "personalized creative ideas, like travel highlights and collages" — including ones that you haven't uploaded to Facebook. The tested "cloud processing" tool is supposed to ask you to opt in via a prompt when you attempt to create a new Story on Facebook.
Since it's a test though, not everyone may have received the prompt, but it seems (via ZDNet) that the feature is rolling out to more Facebook accounts. Some people have claimed the prompt never popped up but the feature was switched on.
