HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - The Hinds County Board of Supervisors said they're in the final stages of deliberation on next year's budget, and a proposal for a one mill increase is under consideration.

If approved, the increase is projected to cost the average household approximately $1.60 more per month for a $200,000 home and about $2.00 more per month for a $250,000 home.

According to supervisors, the funds would be used for capital improvements on public projects and support debt services for the new Hinds County Criminal Justice Facility.

The Board must adopt a budget by September 15, 2025. If approved, the budget would take effect on October 1, 2025.
