FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – Police said Monday afternoon they found no evidence of a shooting after reports of an active shooter prompted the University of Arkansas to send an alert.

As of 3:50 p.m. local time, Nexstar's KNWA reports that police had not found any evidence of a shooter, but were still checking buildings on campus.

The University of Arkansas says classes have been canceled for the day.

During a news conference, officials said that both campus and Fayetteville police received calls of a reported active shooter at 12:30 p.m. They said no evidence of a shooting has been found, and therefore no arrests had been made.
