On Sunday, Alina Habba – Trump’s former personal lawyer — claimed the federal judges who rejected the current administration’s efforts to keep her in place as New Jersey’s top attorney were colluding against her, and keeping her from returning to the post.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann said that Habba “is not lawfully holding the office of United States Attorney” because the Senate has not confirmed her position, and the time limit during which she can serve as interim U.S. attorney without such confirmation expired on July 1.

Therefore, Habba could not continue overseeing prosecutions as the state’s acting U.S. attorney, per Rolling Stone .
