PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Will Howard has received positive updates from hand specialists and should be on his way back to the team soon.

Howard, who was seen throwing during the individual portion of practice, suffered a broken bone in his pinky finger during a center-quarterback exchange three weeks ago. That forced him to miss the entire preseason.

“He’s had some positive reviews meeting with the hand specialists,” Tomlin said. “We’ve increased his level of activity. And we’ve altered the brace that you mentioned, and he’s moving in the right direction in terms of full participation very soon.”
