ESCANABA — The man accused in a fatal stabbing Aug. 13 in Escanaba was in court Wednesday.

Kaw Tung, 38, was arraigned at the Delta County Courthouse on charges of homicide-open murder-statutory short form.

Court records did not indicate his bond. Jennifer J. France is listed as Tung’s attorney.

In Michigan, Tung’s charge of “open murder” indicates the prosecution has chosen not to specify whether the homicide is first-degree, second-degree or manslaughter; instead, the degree of murder will be determined later during the legal proceedings, according to officials.
