LONGVIEW, Texas — Longview Lobos head football coach John King says he has been diagnosed with mouth cancer, but he plans to continue coaching, Longview News-Journal sports editor Jack Stallard confirmed.

King told Stallard he will be getting a procedure as soon as possible.

“It’s something hopefully they can cut out. …no radiation,” King said to Stallard. “We’re going to be proactive and do the procedure as soon as possible. Might be later this week, but the sooner the better.”

The Lobos will be playing at at home Friday against Lufkin.
