What a difference a week makes. After surging through the Twins, Cardinals, and Rays, the Yankees had major momentum heading into their massive four-game series with the Boston Red Sox, only to drop the first three games in frustrating fashions: first they couldn’t hold a lead, then they couldn’t score at all, and then they got blown out. They salvaged the finale on Sunday to keep within a half-game of their archrivals (and the top Wild Card spot, which they abandoned over the weekend), but the biggest thing their lone win accomplished was breaking an eight-game losing streak to the Sox after winning their very first matchup of the year.
