CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Newport police are investigating two separate shootings that happened in less than 24 hours and left two people injured.

The shootings have raised concern among Newport residents who feel violent crime is happening more and more often.

“Apart from the past month or so, we’ve never had any issues with crime or anything,” said Abbie Herthington.

Herthington said that peace was disrupted by not one but three shootings in her Newport neighborhood within the last month.

Her camera captured video of who she believes is the suspect in Friday’s shooting on Putnam and Tenth streets.

“It just seems a bit close for comfort knowing that you can hear the guy running outside your house two seconds after the shots are fired. It’s a bit scary,” she said.
