COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will conduct courtesy boat inspections across the state during Labor Day weekend in an effort to promote safety on the water during one of the busiest boating times of the year.
Officers from SCDNR’s Law Enforcement Division will be stationed at public boat landings Saturday, Sunday, and Monday — August 30 through September 1 — to check for required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registrations. The inspections are complimentary and non-punitive, meaning boaters who are not in compliance will not be ticketed but instead given the opportunity to correct issues before launching.
