COLUMBIA, S.C. — As South Carolina continues to rank among the fastest-growing states in the country, lawmakers are studying whether the state’s roads can keep up.
A special legislative committee is reviewing the issue and recently heard from state transportation officials about funding shortfalls and possible solutions.
Ashlyn Williamson, who commutes from Camden to Chapin, said traffic around Malfunction Junction has worsened over the years. “Coming to Columbia, going from Malfunction Junction, just the amount of the road detours that you have to take to get onto from 20 to 26, I feel it just slows the commute down more than what it used to,” she said.
