Emporia Police Department Investigations Captain Lisa Hayes announced today that two 14-year-old males were taken into custody in connection with an attempted aggravated assault that took place Sunday, August 17 on 12th Avenue.

Lyon County Crime Stoppers received a tip last week that assisted in the investigation, with detectives recovering a gun and knife believed to be used in the attempted robbery.

The suspects were taken into custody Friday.

As per EPD policy, the names of the 14-year-olds will not be released to the public.
