(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento leaders sent a letter on Tuesday demanding transparency from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following reports that immigrants are being held overnight and sleeping on the floor at a downtown federal building.

The Sacramento County Board Chairman, Phil Serna, wrote a letter to ICE's San Francisco Acting Field Office Director, Orestes Cruz, requesting the opportunity to tour the John Moss Federal Building due to an understanding that the building was not designed for the detention of individuals overnight.

The letter was signed by some Sacramento City Council members, including Mayor Kevin McCarty, indicating support for Serna's request.
