DEARBORN, MI – A Michigan man who was intentionally hit by vehicle in Dearborn expressed concern for his safety days before the incident.

According to the Dearborn Police Department, the man is in critical condition after a 38-year-old Dearborn resident crossed into the eastbound lanes of Michigan Avenue, accelerated, and struck him with a dark SUV at 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 23.

Officers responded to the scene near Howe Street and determined the act was intentional. Witnesses followed the fleeing SUV and observed that the driver had abandoned the vehicle several blocks away before fleeing on foot.

A driver later called and identified himself. He was arrested at home without incident.
