A Tupelo man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to the sexual battery of a child under the age of 14.

On August 25, 30-year-old Kendal Sharil Ackinson pled guilty in Lee County Circuit Court. Judge Kelly L. Mims sentenced Ackinson to 30 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, leaving 20 years to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Due to the nature of the crime, Ackinson will not be eligible for parole or early release. Judge Mims also ordered the sentence to run consecutively to Ackinson’s current prison sentence, meaning he must serve both terms in full for a total of 27.5 years of incarceration.
