El Paso police detectives arrested a young man accused of a shooting in Northwest El Paso .

Elijah Gabriel Marquez Duran, 18, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an investigation by detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit, police spokeswoman Stephanie Shields wrote in a news release on Monday, Aug. 25.

Marquez was allegedly identified on video, placing him at the scene, and he allegedly confessed to the shooting, Assistant District Attorney Rifqa Calhoun said at a teleconference bond hearing on Monday.

Daniel Torres, 41, of El Paso, suffered two gunshot wounds to his left arm and torso in the shooting, which occurred about 4 p.m. on Aug. 14 on Enchanted Springs Road at Willie Mier Street, Calhoun said.
