Bastrop ISD's student code of conduct is getting a few updates as a result of new legislation passed during the 89th Texas Legislature, which concluded June 2.

The district's board of trustees adopted the changes to the code of conduct Aug. 19.

The details

District administrators shared that the update to the school's student code of conduct includes:

The prohibition of personal devices capable of two-way communication during school hours

New language allowing teachers to formally remove students from the classroom after one incident of disruptive or abusive behavior

Increasing the cap on the number of days students can spend in in-school suspension to 10 days, with potential extension upon review. Students can still only be given three days of out-of-school suspe
