As the new school year begins, drivers in Arlington County, Virginia, will notice more speed cameras installed around schools.
Crews put up 10 more cameras in school zones throughout Arlington, bringing the total number of school zone cameras to 28.

It's important to note that the cameras are only in effect when the 20 mph sign close by is flashing. That happens during student drop-off and pick-up times near schools.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 25, there's a 30-day warning period for drivers caught speeding near the 10 newly installed cameras and two relocated cameras. After the warning period, drivers will receive $100 tickets.
There's no warning period, however, for the existing camera locations.
