Thailand is gearing up to offer free domestic flights to foreign visitors in a bid to boost tourism and encourage travelers to explore the country more widely. The nation’s Tourism Ministry has proposed giving round-trip domestic flight tickets to up to 200,000 international arrivals at no cost. The initiative, dubbed “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights,” is still awaiting approval from the Thai cabinet.

The initiative is similar to one that Japan promoted last year to encourage inbound tourism. It comes at a time when Thailand has experienced a significant dip in tourism numbers in 2025 due to political and safety concerns.
