DIXON, Ill. (WTVO) — Police have apprehended an armed man who led deputies on a high-speed chase through Dixon, which ended when he reportedly collided with another car in an intersection.
Around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday night, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said a deputy was assisting the Dixon Police in locating a vehicle that had previously fled from officers.
The vehicle was seen on North Peoria Avenue, near Dixon High School, and the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, police said.
However, the driver, later identified as Jamie Santiago, 59, of Chicago, accelerated to 55 mph in the 30 mph zone, and disobeyed several stop signs in an effort to escape capture, and crashed into another car at Peoria and Third Street.
