CANTON, Mo. (WGEM) - Culver-Stockton College students begin the new school year Monday.

The latest census shows Canton, Missouri, has a population of roughly 2,700. When about 1,000 Culver-Stockton students return to campus, the community gets a whole lot busier.

Nevaeh Goings, manager at CC’s Coffee Bar in Canton, said they recently opened the inside of the building for the college students to have a place to hang out and do work. She said during the school year, there is a notable increase in business, especially in the mornings.

“I’ve kind of got down what time the classes start, so you can definitely tell right before those 8 a.m. classes, about 7:30, we really pick up, and that line was massive,” Goings said. “You kind of have to have two people to hold the fort down.”
