The Detroit Lions plan to waive safety Ian Kennelly as part of roster cuts, according to a report from KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson .
The Macomb native had a standout career at Grand Vally State, earning first-team All-GLIAC honors twice, while amassing 174 tackles, eight interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and a blocked punt in 49 career games.
After going undrafted in 2025, Kennelly, 24, signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent and made plenty of noise throughout training camp to try and earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
The Utica Eisenhower graduate was an unknown to the Lions until he performed at the team’s local pro day to score a spot with the team this summer.
