The owners of a new Minneapolis restaurant say it was forced to close due to an ongoing "landlord issue."

Matriarch recently shuttered at 1601 W. Lake St., just two months after it opened in the space formerly occupied by Italian restaurants Pinoli and Amore Uptown.

"We have had a landlord issue for the last several months, as many of you know," co-owner Michelle Courtright said in a video announcement. "And we are no longer able to continue in this space."

"We have a landlord that will not sign our lease or help us to get our liquor license, and we have a leaky roof," Courtright said. "We could go into great detail about this, but that's beyond the point. We have no other option other than to close."
