At their Aug. 25 fire update meeting, Ravalli County Commissioners were updated on wildfire activity in the Bitterroot Valley, or lack thereof.
“All of our fires in Montana are either in control status or out," Bitterroot Forest Service Fire Staff Officer Mark Wilson told county commissioners.
Since Aug. 18, the Bitterroot Forest has had eight fires, all of which were quickly responded to and contained before the blazes reached significant size. Fires near Blodgett Canyon and Lost Horse Road both grew to about an acre before they were contained and put out over the weekend.
The Observation Point Fire was declared out on Aug. 25 and the Dominic Point Fire is contained and in patrol status, according to the Bitterroot National Forest .
