The Honolulu Fire Department responded today to a fire at 3986 Kaualio Place in Kahala. HFD received a 911 call at 3:34 a.m. reporting a tree fire, but the first unit arriving at 3:41 a.m. found flames at the rear of an abandoned, single-story residence with boarded-up doors and windows.

A total of 11 units with 42 personnel fought the blaze, navigating hoarding conditions and a partially collapsed roof. The fire was brought under control at 4:39 a.m. and fully extinguished by 6:10 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

HFD has launched an investigation to determine the cause and assess damage, with updates expected once the report is complete.
