Honolulu firefighters extinguished an apartment fire in Kaneohe Saturday evening that required the evacuation of occupants.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a 7:30 p.m. call for a fire at 46-270 Kahuhipa St., the address for a complex called Mountain View Terrace in Kaneohe. Twelve units with 46 personnel responded, with the first arriving five minutes later.

Smoke and flames were coming from a 6th-floor unit, and firefighters found neighbors using the building’s firehose in an attempt to bring the fire under control. HFD assisted with evacuating the occupants.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services treated four patients at the scene. Two, ages 50 and 60, were taken to the hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation. The two others declined transport.
