LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — When you think of all the kids in foster care, you may think that they spend a few years there at most.

However, that wasn't the case for a 19-year-old named Cozy.

He has spent nearly 15 years in the system, but on Monday, he started a new chapter with his forever family after being the longest waiting child in Arkansas foster care.

His adoption into the Dietrich family has now been finalized, and dozens of his new friends and family were in attendance to celebrate him.

"Every single one of our waiting kids deserves a family. They deserve a community like [the one] gathered today, and we are so grateful for each one of you," Anna Dietrich said.

Anna and Tim Dietrich said they felt called to be more than just Cozy's legal guardians.
