OMAHA, Neb. —
Mexican pride filled the Great Hall at the Durham Museum as Mexico en el Corazon put on a free performance.
This organization is part of the North American Institute for Mexican Advancement, which seeks to elevate and improve the lives of Mexican communities across the country.
The group performed its dance "The Golden Spike" to honor the expansion of train travel going West. The show is also a celebration of Mexican culture and the immigrant community.
"We have to have our identity, so we can't get lost in this world, especially going to another country. They don't know who they are," Sergio Suarez, founder of NAIMA, said. "We know who we are, and we can be very happy to contribute to the richness of the United States."
