As he and legislators push to overhaul the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, Gov. Jeff Landry has named Julia Fisher-Cormier to run the agency's new Office of Transportation.

Created by the Legislature this spring , that office is tasked with making the department that oversees the state's highways and bridges run more efficiently. State leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of DOTD's work.

In March 2024, Landry appointed Fisher-Cormier as commissioner of the Office of Multimodal Commerce, an office within DOTD that oversees the state’s port, waterway, rail, aviation and trucking transportation systems.

Fisher-Cormier was chief commercial officer at the Port of South Louisiana before her stint with the Office of Multimodal Commerce.
