A dispute between two employees at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, escalated into a shooting on Friday that left one dead and another facing a murder charge, authorities said.

The suspect, Curtis James Jr., 25, of Mobile, Alabama, was arrested on a first-degree murder charge and is currently being held without bond in Jackson County jail, according to George Huffman, an assistant district attorney. James will be given a preliminary hearing within two weeks.

The shooting sent around 8,000 employees at the sprawling shipyard into a lockdown shortly after 7:30 am, when law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an active shooter, Pascagoula Police Chief Terry Scott said at a press conference Friday morning. James was taken into custody about an hour and a half later
