LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Some incoming flights couldn't land at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Monday afternoon due to thunderstorms.
Across the southwest, thunderstorms impacted incoming flights from a handful of cities, including Albuquerque, Denver and Salt Lake City. Traffic was halted coming into Southern California from those areas to ease congestion.
Ground stops were also in place for Long Beach Airport and John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana for the same reason. Those ground stops were lifted at 4 p.m.
The LAX ground stop ended at 4:45 p.m.
A combination of tropical moisture and heat is also bringing thunderstorms to parts of the L.A. area on Monday.
