MONTPELIER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Grants of up to $40,000 are available for organizations in Vermont that will provide "farm to school" programs, which teach children about farming and nutrition and promote local agriculture on school menus.
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM) announced Monday that the Farm to School Service Provider Grant is open for applications, and will be through October 6. No matching funds are required to apply for the grant. A full guidebook is available at the link below.
Other examples of programs that could be funded by a grant would be school gardens as well as school meal programs that rely on locally farmed foods. To be eligible for a grant, an organization has to demonstrate that it has at least three schools on board.
