A total of 288 pets found their fur-ever homes during NBC 7 and Telemundo 20's annual Clear the Shelters adoption event with San Diego Humane Society on Saturday, the shelter announced.
This figure surpassed last year's number of adopted animals, which was 267 .
All kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even mice were adopted during this year's event, where all adoption fees were waived.
The campaign is part of a monthlong pet adoption partnership with NBC 7 and Telemundo 20.
The adoption hours began at 10 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m. on Saturday. By 3 p.m., 194 pets had already been adopted, and the last tally came in just after 7 p.m. with almost 100 more pets being adopted.
