MADISON (WKOW) -- A jury was seated on Monday in the retrial of a man charged in a deadly shooting at the Harmony apartments in July 2023.

Devonte Gafford, 34, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Gafford is accused of killing Devon Grant, 20. Prosecutors said the shooting happened after a robbery and drug deal gone wrong.

Gafford was on trial for the first time in late February 2024. A jury found him guilty of the firearm charge, but jurors were deadlocked on the other two counts .

The prosecution and defense will present opening statements in court on Tuesday.
