A dart attack that could have been fatal ended with a prison sentence of five years and 10 months Monday.

Joseph Naes used a slingshot to fire the 6-inch-long dart on June 17, 2024, at another man on the East 162nd Avenue light rail platform, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case. Naes recognized the man from an interaction the week before on the same platform, the affidavit said.

The barb struck 33-year-old Logan Sharp in the back and pierced his lung. As Sharp collapsed, Naes pumped his arms in apparent glee and then fled the scene with a woman, according to prosecutors.

The week before, Naes had been hitting a woman on the head at the MAX stop when Sharp walked by and told him to stop, according to the affidavit.
