(NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump is expanding his crime crackdown beyond Washington, D.C., by considering the deployment of federal troops to Chicago and other Democrat-run cities.
This move follows a Pentagon order allowing federal troops in Washington, D.C., to carry firearms, as part of an effort to curb crime in the nation's capital.
"We will solve Chicago within one week, maybe less," President Trump said, expressing confidence in his approach to reducing crime in other cities.
In Washington, D.C., about 2,000 federal troops, some now armed, patrol the city as part of the president's crackdown on crime. President Trump claimed that there have been no murders in the last 11 days, which he touted as a success.
