CHEYENNE — After thorough inspection of nearly 8,000 M18 modular handguns, Air Force Global Strike Command has lifted its pause on use of the weapons, effective Monday.
This includes personnel at Cheyenne's F.E. Warren Air Force Base.
The Air Force conducted a comprehensive inspection of its 7,970 Sig Sauer M18 Modular Handgun Systems, following a directed pause on July 21, according to a news release published Sunday.
The pause was initiated following a fatal shooting incident at F.E. Warren last month. Air Force authorities have since arrested an airman in connection with the July 20 death of another service member, Airman Brayden Lovan.
