PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) - William Meade was in his home Sunday in the Shadow Brook mobile home park when the rainy afternoon turned violent.

“I heard this horrendous, violent, aggressive wind and I heard sheet metal slide across my roof,” he recalled. “I didn’t know at the time what had happened.”

He began looking for his wife. “All I could hear was her screaming, ‘Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, it’s gone.’”

He found her grabbing their their children “I was like, ‘what’s gone?’ I walked over and I saw the sunroom was gone.”

Manatee County emergency crews responded, and found a significant amount of damage.

“We had two mobile homes that their roofs came off with the winds the way they were,” Jodie Fiske, director of Public Safety for Manatee County, said.
