BALTIMORE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Kilmar Abrego Garcia remains held in an unidentified detention center in Virginia, as his deportation is on hold after U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis extended her order blocking his deportation to Uganda until further notice.
She's concerned there are no assurances from that country that Abrego Garcia would be able to move about there freely.
A media frenzy surrounded Abrego Garcia and his family as they entered the federal building for his meeting with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His wife left about 45 minutes later, as one of their attorneys delivered the news to supporters.
"Mr. Abrego Garcia was taken into custody by ICE this morning," said Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, one of the family's attorneys.
