LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A quiet residential neighborhood in Little Rock is now at the center of a growing controversy after the city’s Board of Directors voted to approve the construction of four mini-homes on Hanger Street — despite vocal community opposition, traffic concerns, and a prior recommendation against the project by city planners.

Phyllis Hodges, a lifelong resident of Little Rock and longtime caretaker for her mother in the Hanger Hill neighborhood, says she’s watched her street change dramatically over the past several years — but nothing has sparked community backlash quite like this.

“We do not want this to happen,” said Hodges, referencing the new mini-homes going up at 1522 Hanger Street. “Bumper-to-bumper traffic in the neighborhood is going to be horrible.”
