The Lompoc Valley high school football teams both opened their respective 2025 campaigns with a win Friday.

Cabrillo beat Selma 31-14 at Huyck Stadium in Lompoc Friday afternoon, and Lompoc won 17-7 at Nipomo Friday night. Lompoc and Cabrillo will play their home games during the afternoons this season because of the lighting issue at Huyck.

Meanwhile, Santa Ynez won 43-22 at Dos Pueblos Friday night. Tulare Union edged St. Joseph 27-24 at St. Joseph, and Bakersfield Independence routed Pioneer Valley 47-0 at PV..

Lompoc 17, Nipomo 7

Noah Kinard rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and made a huge play on defense as the Braves beat the Titans in the season opener for both teams.
