California Highway Patrol officers Tuesday will ramp up activity along Interstate 15 between the San Diego County line and Lake Elsinore to catch motorcyclists engaging in unsafe driving, as well as other motorists who might endanger the riders.

The daylong enforcement campaign will focus specifically on “unsafe speed, following too closely, unsafe lane changes and improper turning,” CHP Officer Mike Lassig said.

“Motorcycle-involved crashes in California continue to be a major concern for the CHP,” Lassig said. “From January 2024 through December 2024, provisional statistical data revealed there were 145 injury crashes involving motorcycles and seven fatal crashes involving motorcycles in the Temecula area.”
