ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says its Aviation Division discovered the body of a man Monday during an air search in the area where a man was reported missing .
According to a news release, pilots spotted the body around noon in the dunes, about a quarter-mile from the location where Martin Gack was last seen. Authorities stressed that the body has not yet been positively identified.
“Positive identification has yet to be determined,” the sheriff’s office said. “Cause of death at this time is unknown.”
Judge Guillory has ordered an autopsy to determine how the man died. The family of Gack has been notified of the discovery, the release said.
The sheriff’s office did not release any further details and emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
