Summer vacation has come to an end in Bedford. Many K-12 students will have to get used to setting their alarms, grabbing their backpacks and lunches, and morning commutes to one of the six public schools in the district.

This year, the Bedford School District expects to teach more kindergarten students over longer days.
In March, voters approved extending the district’s kindergarten classes from half days to full days. Kindergartners at Peter Woodbury, Memorial, and Riddle Brook elementary schools will now stay in school from 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
That prompted an incease in enrollment. When the district offered half-day classes last school year, it had 177 pupils in kindergarten. That number swelled to 229 students enrolled as o
