ESTACADA, Ore. (KPTV) — The Estacada School District released students early on their first day back on Monday, due to concerns about the heat.

But as other districts in the metro area get ready to start school on Tuesday, they aren’t planning on making any schedule changes.

“It’s not really that hot out right now, so they probably could’ve been in the full day,” said Isabella Kennedy, who was picking up her children from River Mill Elementary (RME) in Estacada on Monday.

Kennedy is a stay-at-home mom but said an early release schedule can be an inconvenience for other parents. FOX 12 spoke to Joan Oswald at RME after she picked up her daughter from school and she agreed.

“I had to cancel two appointments,” Oswald said. “It must’ve been really hard for most parents.“
