PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - All summer long, the Rose City has been represented by its Queen of Rosaria, a recent graduate of Lincoln High School. Now she’s off to college—not in Portland, but oceans away.
“It has been a whirlwind,” said Ava Rathi, reflecting on her summer after being crowned Rose Queen in June.
It’s a 103-year-old tradition in the Rose City. For Rathi, that means being recognized for her outstanding work at school and as a volunteer civics tutor. She spent the past months as Portland’s ambassador—at parades, or her favorite: the Milk Carton Race.
“That was also such a Portland event,” she said.
Plus, she received a $3,500 scholarship alongside the other Rose Court seniors.
“It was honestly just a really great farewell,” Rathi said.
