CHARLESTOWN, Ind. —

A southern Indiana man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught speeding while drunk Monday afternoon.

Indiana State Police said they arrested 40-year-old Derick Hihn on Monday.

Around 3:45 p.m., a trooper clocked Hihn driving 117 mph on State Road 62, which is east of Charlestown. The speed limit in that area is 55 mph, according to police.

Police said Hihn slowed down after noticing the trooper. This was when he was pulled over.

When the trooper asked Hihn to step out of his vehicle, they suspected he might be under the influence of alcohol. The trooper then conducted an operating while intoxicated investigation before arresting Hihn.

Hihn is charged with operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, and operating while intoxicated with endangerment.
