CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — An Indiana man is facing charges after police clocked him speeding more than double the speed limit while intoxicated.

According to Indiana State Police, a trooper was monitoring traffic at a pull-off on the south side of State Road 62 just east of Charlestown.

Around 3:45 p.m., the trooper heard a vehicle accelerating as it approached his location.

When the trooper saw the vehicle, he noticed it was a white Corvette and clocked the vehicle with his in-car radar traveling east at 117 mph in a 55 mph zone – 62 mph over the speed limit max.

The driver, 40-year-old Derick E. Hihn of Charlestown, slowed as he passed and was pulled over just west of Decker Lane.

The trooper observed signs of possible alcohol impairment during the stop.
