SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WSMV) - A father is being treated for serious burns after rescuing his son from a fire that destroyed the family’s home early Monday morning.
Firefighters said the fire started around 4 a.m., possibly on the back deck of the family’s house. Mary Elizabeth Eisler, who lives next door, said she woke up to an orange glow outside her window. At first, she thought her neighbor was having a bonfire.
“But I was like, why is he having one at 4 a.m.? Then I thought maybe it was someone’s headlights or something, but I never thought it would be a house fire,” Eisler said.
The family of four told neighbors they were awakened by a popping sound. In the rush to get out, their son became separated in the smoke. His father ran back into the burning home to rescue him.
