WAVERLY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Changes are coming to one Midstate school system when it comes to their sporting events after a gun was discovered.
A student was found in possession of an airsoft pistol during Friday’s football game in Waverly.
Cheryl Stanley’s children previously attended school in the Humphreys County School System.
“What if it were something that could really hurt someone?” Stanley said. There’s little kids at these ball games, it’s bad enough that we got students, but there little kids at these ball games, too."
Authorities say the person showed the weapon and allegedly made threats to shoot players after the game.
However, this alleged plan was foiled after officers were tipped off by students.
